Gallery and Jazz Café, Grosmont

This art gallery and café is in the small village of Grosmont in the North Yorkshire Moors. The best way to get there is via the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, the famous steam train line. The nearest stop is just across the road. |
You might not be impressed by the outside (it looks a bit too swish to be cosy). And it calls itself a "jazz café". Thankfully, as soon as you walk inside, you can tell it's not as trendy as it seems. It's relaxed and there is a strong hint of the bohemian. The owners in their arty clothes add to the casual feel.

There is plenty of browseable artwork, background jazz music, views of steam trains rolling by, morning papers and cosy leather chairs. It's a perfect hiding spot until the arrival of the next train.

Couldn't agree more, went here a few years ago on holiday. Brilliant art and music playing, a decent coffee too.
