Blakes Coffee House, Newcastle

Visited on July 17, 2006 12:15 PM

Blakes, Newcastle Although not a particularly "cosy" coffee house, Blakes is a treasure trove of coffees from around the world and is highly recommended.

It's basically a rustic American-style pub... but alcohol-free. Coffee is the order of the day; the closest thing you'll get to a stiff drink is one of the stronger international grinds. It's a bustling place with a large range of excellent lite bites.

If you're out and about in central Newcastle, Blakes provides a perfect opportunity to rest heavy shopping bags. It's an oasis of caffeine which seems to have found a niche, and I can only hope more places like this spring up soon.
