Brown Sugar, Durham

Brown Sugar, Durham Brown Sugar is very brown and very sweet.

I imagine this is what it feels like to lie back in a box of chocolates. The only reality check comes when you try to eat the sofas.

Talking of sofas, the best are the giant caramel-coloured leather ones.

It has been designed with precision and is remarkably swish; there are (for example) plasma screens, not often seen in coffee houses. So it is not (I presume) the brainchild of an independent café owner, but it doesn't lack character. It's still a great place to sip a coffee in peace, harmony, and a temperate climate (there is air conditioning).

With such a fantastic city just outside the large glass windows, what more could you want?

Comments

Definitely very cosy, but the service is often ice-age inducingly slow!

I can really feel your love for coffee and newspapers and peace. I share it completely. I really am missing England very much right now!!
