The Apple Pie is a smashing place in the heart of the Lake District; it is highly recommended. |
|
It is colourful, cosy and extremely friendly, and does a roaring trade. It has an excellent reputation, but also probably draws in a large number of passers-by enamored by its colourful facade.
There are a few different places to sit, including an outdoor area. | ![]() |

It has plenty of food options so best avoid lunchtime if you just fancy a coffee. At other times, it's just right for relaxing with a cappuccino (and make sure you try the eponymous apple pie as well). It's a little on the pricey side, but no more than you'd expect in a tourist town like Ambleside (which, by the way, is a very nice place). There's also a bakery with plenty of picnic possibilities. |
| It's the perfect place to start a day's wandering in the stunning Lakes. | ![]() |
