Planet Coffee, Hull

This is hardly a quaint coffee shop experience, but it's still a great place to relax with a mug and therefore it's worth a mention. |
It's large, with lots of quiet corners. There are plenty of sofas and, best of all, a small room upstairs filled only with bean bags. Great for children and, for that matter, anyone else capable of bending knees to a significant degree.

Apart from the beanbag zone, it doesn't have a great deal of personality. It's a fairly American sort of place, not meant in a bad way (well, you can take it any way you like...). The service is Starbucks-style, so order at the counter and wait in line for the coffee to appear.
On the upside, there is a big range of coffee, and because it's so big it's an ideal spot for hiding away at your leisure, whether on one's own or with a group. There are cakes available but it's geared at coffee drinkers.
